Dr. Raul Martinez
Dr. Raul Martinez is a diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology with a subspecialty certification in Pain Management. He completed his post-doctorate Fellowship in Pain Medicine from the University of Texas Health Science Center and has been in private practice since 1999. A San Antonio native, Dr. Martinez, is also fluent in Spanish.
A member of multiple professional associations including the American Academy of Pain Medicine, the American Society of Regional Anesthesia, Texas Medical Association, and the International Association for the Study of Pain, Dr. Martinez is also a Pain Ambassador for the National Pain Foundation and a frequent expert guest on local TV shows. An interventionalist, Dr. Martinez believes in conservative care that restores quality of life and functionality.
Dr. Martinez and his staff offer his patients superior clinical care, up-to-date techniques and the latest technology. When he is not at work, Dr. Martinez enjoys spending time with his family, riding his motorcycles, and staying active in multiple sports.
Dr. Liliana Meskill
Dr. Liliana Meskill is board certified in anesthesiology with a subspeciality certification in pain management. She completed her post-doctorate
Fellowship in Chronic Pain Management at The University of Texas Health Science Center in 2015. A native of Havana, Cuba, Dr. Meskill is fluent
in Spanish. She is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the San Antonio Society of Anesthesiologists.
Dr. Meskill completed her undergraduate coursework at Louisiana State University Health Science Center. In August 2015, she joined Dr. Raul
Martinez's pain management practice. While away from treating patients, she enjoys running, travelingaround the world for food tasting,
andspending time with friends and family.
Dr. Karl Lautenschlager
Dr. Karl Lautenschlager is a diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology with subspecialty certification in Pain Medicine. He completed his medical training at the Uniformed Services University for the Health Sciences followed by post-doctorate residency training in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine from the National Capital Consortium compromised of the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, National Naval Medical Center, and the current Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
Following graduation from training, Dr. Lautenschlager has worked as an Army Pain Management specialist and Anesthesiologist. He has been involved in academic medicine throughout his career as an assistant professor of Anesthesiology at the Uniformed Services University and as faculty for both an Anesthesiology residency and Pain Medicine fellowship. He has actively been involved in research with multiple publications and frequently provides guest lectures for medical trainees and consulting services. Dr. Lautenschlager has a philosophy and vision of expanding academic medicine into the private sector and believes in multidisciplinary care targeted at improving pain and function.
Anel Parker, RN, FNP-BC
Anel joined our practice in 2009. She completed her Master’s in Science of Nursing from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas. She is board certified from the American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC).
She, like Dr. Martinez, believes in conservative care that restores quality of life and functionality. She utilizes her expertise in conjunction with Dr. Martinez to develop a treatment plan.
When she is not at work she enjoys an active lifestyle outdoors, traveling, and spending time with her family.
Alexis Jimenez-Davila, RN FNP-BC
Alexis is a board certified family nurse practitioner and is accredited from the ANCC. She received her Bachelors of Nursing from Baylor University and went on to complete her Master’s Degree in Nursing from The University of Texas, El Paso.
She was born and raised in Eagle Pass, Texas and is fluent in Spanish. Prior to joining Dr. Martinez she worked for five years in Labor and Delivery in San Antonio, Texas. She feels her experience in Labor in Delivery has helped her with her practice in pain management in many ways. She has learned to have great patience and has gained an understanding of the pain process. She enjoys outdoor sports and loves volunteering with her family on the weekends as a T-ball coach and is an avid Texas Rangers fan.
What is a nurse practitioner?
A nurse practitioner is a registered nurse who has completed advanced education (minimally of a masters’ degree) and training in the diagnosis and management of common medical conditions, including chronic illnesses. A nurse practitioner may provide a broad range of health care services. They work closely with the physician whom is the supervisor of the nurse practitioner. They are also known as physician extenders.
Nurse practitioners can see patients of all ages. They are able to diagnosis, treat, and monitor many disease processes. A nurse practitioner will focus on the patient as an individual and form a treatment plan.
Nurse practitioners are able to evaluate patient, order tests, and prescribe medications within their scope of practice
The nurse practitioners work closely with Dr. Martinez as he reviews their plans and discusses their treatment recommendations. He has an excellent working relationship with our nurse practitioners.
